A shoe was today hurled at Badal allegedly by 40-year-old Gurbachan Singh, a close relative of radical Sikh leader Amrik Singh Ajnala, during his campaign at Ratta Khera village.
Three days after Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal's cavalcade was attacked with stones in his home constituency- Jalalabad, on Wednesday a man hurled a shoe at Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who turned 89 recently, in Lambi - assembly constituency.
Prakash Singh Badal said the incident proves beyond doubt that “his opponents have lost the game” and “want to scuttle” prospects of peaceful, free and fair poll. “Here is clear proof that our opponents have conceded defeat in these elections and were now resorting to such disruptive tactics,” the five time CM said.
The police registered a case against Gurbachan Singh at Kabarwala Police Station and he is now in police custody. Muktsar senior superintendent of police Dhruman H Nimbale said, ”CM Badal was just getting up after completing his address when a shoe was hurled, the accused was arrested and a case has been registered.’’
